India is currently on alert as a new case of suspected monkeypox has been reported. On Sunday, September 8, multiple media outlets in the country revealed that a young man exhibiting symptoms of monkeypox has been identified.
The individual has been isolated in a hospital, and samples have been collected for testing to confirm the infection. The results will determine whether he has contracted monkeypox.
According to the Hindustan Times, the Ministry of Health has stated that the young man’s condition is currently stable. However, details regarding his age and place of residence have not been disclosed.
The Ministry of Health has also noted that the young man had traveled from a country where monkeypox infections have been reported. He is being kept in isolation at the hospital, and there is no immediate cause for concern.
It is noteworthy that last August, monkeypox outbreaks were reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This year, there have been approximately 629 deaths and over 18,000 cases of monkeypox in the Congo. Due to recent outbreaks in many countries, the World Health Organization has declared a global emergency.
