In a tragic incident at the Dhantola border in the Balaiadangi area of Thakurgaon, a Bangladeshi national named Joyanta Kumar Singh was killed by gunfire from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) last night.
Joyanta Kumar Singh, son of Mahadev Kumar Singh from the Lahiri Fakir Vitha Belpukur village in Thakurgaon’s Balaiadangi upazila, was among several individuals who approached the border pillar 393 around midnight on Monday. According to local sources, BSF personnel from the Dingapara camp fired at them, resulting in Joyanta being struck by bullets and dying at the scene.
While the others managed to escape, Joyanta succumbed to his injuries on the spot. His body has been handed over to the Islampur police in India. Additionally, two others were reported injured in the incident and are receiving treatment at a private clinic in Rangpur.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Tanzeer Ahmed, Commander of the 50 BGB Battalion in Thakurgaon, has confirmed receiving information about the incident and stated that further investigations are underway.
