In a high-level meeting on Wednesday, September 25, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for the imposition of sanctions on Israel, urging the United Nations Security Council to take immediate steps. The remarks were made during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, where he addressed a discussion on “Leadership for Peace.”
Speaking at the event, the Pakistani leader stressed the need to protect the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, pressing the Security Council to act in safeguarding their fundamental human rights.
“We have approved the ‘Pact for the Future,’ and it is our duty to uphold it. If not, the future will be engulfed in darkness,” Sharif warned.
He further highlighted the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon, calling for international efforts to end the bloodshed. “It is time to impose sanctions on Israel, including trade restrictions, to stop the genocide in Gaza and the bombings in Lebanon,” the Prime Minister added.
