In a significant escalation, two Israeli soldiers were killed in a drone strike carried out by Iraq’s Islamic Resistance. The attack targeted Israel’s military base in the occupied Golan Heights.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the incident on Friday, October 4. According to IDF reports, the attack, which occurred on Thursday, also left at least 24 soldiers injured, with two of them in critical condition.
The strike was executed using two explosive-laden drones. While the IDF managed to intercept and shoot down one of the drones, the other hit a military facility, leading to the casualties.
This attack is the latest in a series of strikes launched by Iranian-backed Iraqi militias in retaliation for Israeli aggression in Gaza. Israel has frequently faced drone and missile attacks from various groups opposing its actions in the region.
