Renowned Bangladeshi author and activist Taslima Nasrin is facing anxiety over her residence permit in India, which expired on July 22. Despite multiple attempts to contact the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, she has yet to receive a response regarding the renewal of her permit, as reported by Anandabazar Patrika on Tuesday, October 15.
Nasrin expressed her concerns, stating that she has pending commitments in the United States but has been forced to delay her plans repeatedly. She fears that if she leaves India, she may not be allowed to re-enter due to her expired documents.
Known for her vocal stance against communalism, Nasrin has frequently used social media to comment on the socio-political issues in Bangladesh. However, the uncertainty surrounding her residency in India has left her deeply concerned about her future in the country.
The situation remains unresolved, and the author awaits an official decision on her status in India, where she has lived in exile for several years.
