As part of the ICC Test Championship, Bangladesh is set to face South Africa in a two-match Test series at home. Ahead of the first Test, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad, with veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan making the list.
Shakib, who had previously announced his retirement from Test cricket during Bangladesh’s last tour of India, expressed his desire to retire from the format after playing one final Test on home soil. He now gets that opportunity in this series.
The squad for the first Test includes:
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shadman Islam, Liton Kumar Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nahid Rana, Zakir Ali Anik, Hasan Mahmud, and Taskin Ahmed.
The series promises to be a significant occasion, with fans eagerly awaiting Shakib’s final Test appearance at home.
