In a statement made during a roundtable discussion on state reform organized by the Islamic Movement at the BMA Bhaban in Dhaka, Sarjis Alam, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, asserted that the student community should determine the necessary actions against President Mohammad Sahabuddin’s recent comments regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation documents.
Sarjis Alam emphasized, “If a person like President Sahabuddin claims he does not possess the documents related to Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, it is up to the student body to decide what actions should be taken against him.”
During the discussion, he also criticized the Jatiya Party, labeling it a “mindless party” for supporting the “fascist Awami League.” He argued that there is no rationale for engaging in political dialogue with them.
Highlighting the persistence of a fascist system in the country, Sarjis Alam warned that various agencies and conspiratorial groups continue to attempt to destabilize the situation. He called for a collective effort to counter these efforts and restore stability.
The comments reflect ongoing tensions in the political landscape, as students and activists express their discontent with current leadership and governance issues in Bangladesh.
