The National Citizens’ Committee has indicated that no fixed timeline will be set for the potential removal of the President, with decisions to be made based on national interests. Following a meeting with the BNP on Saturday evening (October 26), Committee Convener Naser Uddin Patwari shared this update with the press, emphasizing that any decision would align with the needs of the country.
During the discussions, Hasnat Abdullah, Convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stated that they engaged in talks with the BNP regarding the President’s removal, the establishment of a Second Republic, and national unity. He added that the BNP carefully listened to their proposals and will deliberate internally before announcing their stance. He emphasized that any action on removing the President will be based on the foundation of national unity.
Abdullah further mentioned that discussions have also taken place with Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolan, both of which have expressed agreement on the matter. He added that similar discussions will be held tomorrow with the Ganatantra Mancha and the 12-Party Alliance.
