The wait is finally over as the Bangladesh women’s football team, crowned South Asian champions, has returned to Dhaka. The triumphant team landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday, October 31, at around 2:30 PM, where they were welcomed by a joyous crowd.
This victory marks Bangladesh’s second consecutive SAFF Championship title, following their first win in 2022. Bangladesh defeated hosts Nepal 2-1 in Wednesday’s final held at Dasharath Stadium in Nepal. Monika Chakma and Rituparna Chakma scored for Bangladesh, securing their team’s place as the South Asian champions once again. Like India, Bangladesh has now become only the second team to retain the title consecutively.
A grand welcome ceremony awaits the champions, with a celebratory open-top BRTC bus ready to parade the team from the airport to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) headquarters. The parade route includes stops at Expressway, FDC, Saat Rasta Mor, Moghbazar Flyover, Kakrail, Paltan, Notre Dame College, and Shapla Chattar before reaching BFF.
Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan of the interim government will personally meet with the SAFF champions at the BFF headquarters, where fans and officials are set to honor the team for their historic achievement.
This victory parade mirrors the grand reception they received last year, with the BRTC bus prepared to let the city celebrate and showcase the team’s remarkable achievement as South Asia’s football champions.
