Afghan cricketer Ihsanullah Janat has been banned for 5 years due to allegations of corruption. During this period, he will be prohibited from participating in all forms of cricket. This decision was announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Wednesday (August 7).
According to the ACB’s statement, Ihsanullah Janat violated anti-corruption policies of both the ACB and the ICC during the second season of the Kabul Premier League. The 26-year-old cricketer’s ban is effective immediately. He breached section 2.1.1 of the anti-corruption code, which prohibits attempts to influence match outcomes unlawfully. Janat has admitted to the corruption charges against him.
Ihsanullah Janat has played 20 international matches across all formats for Afghanistan. He made his debut against Zimbabwe in 2017 and has since played 16 One Day Internationals, 3 Tests, and 1 T20 match. His most recent appearance for Afghanistan was in 2022.
