Due to unavoidable circumstances, the railway authorities have announced that all types of train services will be temporarily suspended on Sunday, August 4.
Nahid Hasan Khan, the railway public relations officer, informed the media on Saturday, August 3, that the suspension is necessary due to unforeseen reasons.
According to railway sources, the halt in train services will be in effect for just one day, with further decisions to be made based on the evolving situation.
Train services had resumed last Thursday after a 14-day suspension related to the quota reform movement. On that day, short-distance trains began operating between several cities, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, and Khulna, and their surrounding areas.
Trains such as the Titash Commuter, Dewanganj Commuter, Jamalpur Commuter, Turag Commuter, Karnaphuli Commuter, and Narayanganj Commuter ran from Dhaka. From Chattogram, services included the Karnaphuli Commuter, Sagarika Commuter, and Nazirhat Commuter. Mymensingh saw local trains on the Mohanganj and Jharia routes, while Khulna, Rajshahi, and other areas had local trains on various routes.
Railway officials have yet to determine when intercity passenger trains will resume their services.
