State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Junayed Ahmed Polack has stated that if he has made any mistakes regarding the quota reform movement, he is publicly seeking forgiveness from the younger generation. He made this comment during a discussion meeting held at his residence in Natore on Friday, marking National Mourning Day.
Minister Polack said, “I take responsibility for the disruption of the internet and for failing to prevent rumors on social media. I am committed to accepting any decision.”
He also noted, “If the younger generation feels that we have wronged them and becomes aggrieved, then we deserve to be held accountable. However, if the Prime Minister is blamed, it causes us distress. I request that the Prime Minister not be misunderstood.”
Minister Polack pointed out, “To resolve the distance created between us and the students, we need to be sensitive and listen to their concerns. Solutions cannot be achieved through harsh decisions; we must find the right solutions.”
He added, “BNP-Jamaat, student parties, and terrorist groups have tried to create unrest by spreading false propaganda. However, to bridge the gap between the government and the students, we must take responsibility.”
Regarding the internet shutdown, Polack explained, “The internet disruption occurred due to damage to the data center in Mohakhali and cuts in fiber cables. If anyone is to be blamed for this failure, it is me.”
He also addressed the broader criticisms of the government, saying, “Some masked conspirators are speaking sweetly on TV and attempting to install a specific government. It will take time to uncover this conspiracy.”
