The Meghalaya police have handed over the body of Ishak Ali Khan Panna, the former General Secretary of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League, to Bangladesh authorities. The body was returned through the Tamabil Immigration Checkpost in Sylhet at around 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 31.
Earlier, following a request from the family, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh had requested the Indian government to facilitate the return of Ishak’s body. After completing various formalities, Meghalaya police handed over the body to Tamabil police today. Members of Ishak’s family were present during the handover.
It is noteworthy that Ishak tragically lost his life on the night of August 24 while attempting to flee to India through the Kanaighat’s Dona border. His decomposed body was recovered by the Umkiang police in India on August 26.
