A tragic bomb explosion near a girls’ school in Mastung district, Balochistan, Pakistan, has resulted in the deaths of seven people, including five children and a police officer, with 13 others injured, most of whom are also children. The incident took place on Friday, November 1, as reported by Dawn News.
According to Balochistan’s police chief, Fateh Mohammad, the explosion occurred when a van carrying school students and a police vehicle were passing through the area. A motorbike rigged with explosives detonated, leading to the fatal incident. The individuals or groups responsible for the bombing remain unidentified.
Following the explosion, Balochistan’s Health Minister Bakht Mohammad Kakar and Health Secretary Mujeeb Ur Rehman declared an emergency at government hospitals, including the BMC Hospital and the Quetta Trauma Center, to provide immediate medical attention to the injured.
Provincial government spokespersons have requested a detailed report from the Balochistan Home Department regarding the incident. A bomb disposal squad and district administration officials quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area.
This attack follows previous incidents in Mastung, where a gun attack in July injured 14 people, and in September, senior journalist Nisar Lehri was fatally shot in the Gulkand area.
