Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus has departed for Bangladesh to assume the role of Chief Advisor of the interim government. He arrived at Dubai International Airport at 2:15 AM local time.
He was escorted to the VIP lounge under tight security, with the Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE, Abu Jafar, and the Consul General in Dubai, BM Jamal Hossain, present to welcome him. However, due to security reasons, they were not permitted to meet Dr. Yunus.
Dr. Yunus is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh later today. He will officially take on the role of Chief Advisor at 8 PM tonight.
Previously, on August 7, Dr. Yunus arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, where he was also met with tight security. He completed various immigration procedures and stated to the media that he plans to work unitedly with everyone to resolve the ongoing crisis upon his return to Bangladesh, seeking everyone’s cooperation.
