The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has requested Switzerland’s assistance in repatriating the large sums of money that have been laundered from Bangladesh. He made this appeal during a courtesy meeting with the Swiss Ambassador, Reto Renggli, on Thursday.
Highlighting the significant amounts of money that have been siphoned out of Bangladesh, Dr. Yunus emphasized the urgent need to recover these funds. He inquired about the possible ways in which Switzerland could assist in this effort.
In response, Ambassador Renggli assured that Switzerland is always willing to cooperate according to globally recognized processes and standards. He also expressed Switzerland’s support for the interim government and its desire to strengthen bilateral economic relations with Bangladesh.
The Ambassador further mentioned that Switzerland is optimistic about an improved business environment in Bangladesh. Additionally, he expressed concern over the current situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine State.
Dr. Yunus reiterated the interim government’s commitment to fostering young leadership within the Rohingya camps, indicating a focus on sustainable development and empowerment amidst the ongoing crisis.
