Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for killing more than 70 Israeli soldiers, according to a statement from its Operations Room on Wednesday. However, the group did not specify when these soldiers were killed, as reported by Reuters.
Last week, Hezbollah had claimed to have killed 55 Israeli soldiers, and with this latest announcement, the total number has risen to 70.
In response, Israel stated that around 20 of its soldiers have been killed since the launch of its ground offensive in Lebanon. Additionally, Hezbollah has carried out more than 30 attacks in northern Israel.
Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have escalated since Israel launched its military operation in Gaza on October 7 last year. Hezbollah has been fighting in support of Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, in the ongoing conflict. Both sides have engaged in frequent exchanges of rocket and missile attacks across the Lebanon-Israel border. Israel intensified its bombing campaign in Lebanon last month and began a ground invasion earlier this month.
The conflict continues to escalate as both sides engage in aggressive military actions.
