Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has submitted his nomination to contest for the position of Chancellor at Oxford University. On Sunday, August 18, his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), made this announcement. According to a report by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, this information was shared.
The report states that since Imran Khan is currently imprisoned in a Rawalpindi jail, his representative submitted the nomination on his behalf. His party has stated that he will contest the Chancellor position from prison.
Recently, the position of Chancellor at Oxford University became vacant after 80-year-old Chris Patten, former chairman of the UK’s Conservative Party and former Governor of Hong Kong, stepped down. Chris Patten had served as the Chancellor of the university for nearly 21 years.
