A joint operation by the army and police was conducted late Thursday night in Uttara, Dhaka, following rumors that former head of the Detective Branch (DB) of the police, Harun-or-Rashid, was hiding in a residential building.
The operation took place around 10 PM on Road 12 of Sector 10, in front of house number 4. Locals had reportedly spotted someone resembling ‘DB Harun’ and notified the authorities. Shortly thereafter, an army team arrived at the location and conducted a thorough search of the building. A police team also arrived on the scene shortly after the army began their search.
Despite the search, the army team found no evidence of Harun-or-Rashid’s presence and subsequently left the scene. However, the police and local residents continued to surround the building, convinced that the former DB chief was still inside.
This incident follows an earlier rumor on August 6 that Harun-or-Rashid had been detained, a claim that he later denied. Since then, his whereabouts have remained unknown.
The joint operation underscores the ongoing speculation and concern surrounding Harun-or-Rashid, whose disappearance has drawn significant public attention. The authorities have not yet released any official statement regarding the outcome of the search or the current status of Harun-or-Rashid.
