The U.S. Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller has extended his congratulations to Mushfiqur Fazal Ansari for his recent appointment as an ambassador. Ansari attended the State Department’s regular press briefing on Monday, October 28, where he posed several questions to Miller concerning current issues in Bangladesh.
During the session, Ansari informed Miller of his new ambassadorial role under the interim government of Bangladesh. On hearing the news, Miller expressed his congratulations to Ansari.
On October 21, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing Ansari as an ambassador for a three-year term with the rank of Senior Secretary. Ansari has a background in media relations, having served as Assistant Press Secretary to former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia from 2001 to 2006.
