In the Kajla area of Jatrabari, a compassionate rickshaw puller, who selflessly transported injured people to hospitals for free, became the victim of brutal police violence. The incident occurred in late July when the police identified and arrested him.
During the arrest, the police pointed a gun at his chest. In a state of panic, the rickshaw puller tearfully pleaded, “Sir, please don’t kill me; my wife is pregnant.” However, ignoring his plea, the police coldly responded, “We won’t take your life, but you will have to take a bullet. Where do you want to be shot?”
The police then shot him in both legs, leaving them completely shattered. He was rushed to Anabil Hospital in critical condition, but his legs began to rot over time. Describing the horrific incident, the hospital in-charge couldn’t hold back tears and repeatedly paused while speaking.
As news of this heart-wrenching incident spread, it sparked widespread outrage in the community. Human rights organizations condemned the police’s actions and demanded strict justice for the victim.
