Dhaka University (DU) has temporarily suspended all political activities within the campus. This decision was made during an emergency meeting of the university’s syndicate on Thursday, September 29.
The emergency meeting took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lounge in the administrative building from 7:00 PM to 8:45 PM. Following two hours of discussions, the syndicate reached a consensus to impose the temporary ban on political activities involving students, teachers, staff, and employees. The decision will remain in effect until further notice.
Confirming the news, Dr. Abu Hossain Muhammad Ahsan, an associate professor of public administration and a member of the syndicate, stated, “A decision has been made to prohibit all forms of partisan politics for teachers, students, and university employees until further instructions are issued.”
In addition to the ban on political activities, the syndicate also discussed plans to initiate the long-awaited Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections.
