A leader of the banned student organization Chhatra League, Ferdous Priya, was arrested by police while attending an exam at Rajshahi Government Women’s College. Priya, the Environment Affairs Secretary of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Chhatra League, was taken into custody on Sunday (October 27) around 4:45 PM after fellow students recognized her during the exam and reported her to the authorities.
According to sources, Priya was appearing for her first-year degree exam in Islamic Studies when students in adjacent seats identified her. As word spread, members of the opposition student group, Chhatra Dal, gathered outside the examination hall. Following the exam, students apprehended Priya and handed her over to the police, who subsequently transported her to Boalia Police Station.
Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Sabina Yasmin of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police confirmed that Priya has a pending case related to explosives filed at Boalia Police Station. She was presented in court and has been remanded to jail custody.
