Students are once again calling for a return to the previous curriculum. Recently, some students from various educational institutions have been urging to revert to the old curriculum instead of the new one. They claim that the new curriculum is putting extra pressure on their studies and negatively impacting their exam results.
On Wednesday, students from a government school in the capital held a human chain protest. During the protest, students held placards and voiced their demands. One of the participating students said, “Due to the changes in the question papers and syllabus in the new curriculum, we are struggling to keep up with our studies. Our preparation isn’t as strong as it used to be.”
Parents also support their children’s demands. They believe that the complexity of many topics in the new curriculum is increasing the mental pressure on students, resulting in a decline in their interest in studies.
Education Minister Dipu Moni has assured students that their concerns will be taken into consideration and announced that a meeting will soon be held to discuss possible changes to the curriculum. She stated, “We will make any decisions with the future of the students in mind and strive to ensure a stress-free educational experience for them.”
It remains to be seen how the Ministry of Education and relevant authorities will respond to the students’ movement and demands.
