The anti-discrimination student movement has rescheduled their ‘March to Dhaka’ event. Instead of the previously planned Tuesday, the march will now take place today (Monday). Activists from across the country are being called to head to Dhaka. On Sunday, Asif Mahmood, the coordinator of the movement, announced this change in a statement. He explained, “Given the current circumstances, we have decided to move the ‘March to Dhaka’ from Tuesday to Monday (today).” He urged students and citizens nationwide to travel to Dhaka immediately.
In his statement, Asif Mahmood also noted, “Yesterday (Sunday), the government killed numerous students and citizens. It’s time to respond decisively. Especially those from nearby districts should come to Dhaka. If you can, set out for Dhaka today and join the protests once you arrive.”
He added, “This is the moment to make a definitive statement in this student-citizen uprising. Come to Dhaka and be part of history. Arrive in any way you can. Together, students and citizens will bring about the emergence of a new Bangladesh.”
