The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stated that it will not accept the presence of Israeli forces in Gaza after the war. Abu Dhabi will not support any post-war plan by Israel without the establishment of a Palestinian state.
On Saturday (September 14), UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan made this statement on social media platform X, as reported by Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera.
He emphasized that any government in Palestine must be formed under Palestinian leadership to ensure the aspirations, freedom, and sovereignty of the Palestinian people. The UAE is fully prepared to support such an effort, he added.
In May, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled a roadmap for post-war governance in Gaza, which included plans for building ports, solar panel plants, electric vehicle factories, and various investment projects. These initiatives are set to be implemented in three phases, running until 2035.
The UAE foreign minister claimed that the Emirates were not informed of these plans by Israel, expressing concern over the lack of consultation. He reiterated that the UAE would not accept any unilateral steps by Israel that disregard Palestinian independence.
